When visiting Berlin last week I delivered my new ‘Bearlin’ postcard to some lovely independent book shops and have been told by one shop owner in Kreuzberg that they’re already selling like hot cakes! Yay 🙂
Love this moment when new cards arrive back from the printers. It’s so satisfying to pack them up with colourful envelopes in bags. Just sorting out orders now, will deliver some local orders today by foot, it’s a beautiful sunny day so looking forward to the walk! I’ve got some new Bristol stockists lately – Watershed cinema and Grenville Wick on North Street Southville so do check them out if you pass by. Have a lovely day in the sun!
I just love seeing all the beautiful flowers coming out at this time of year, such a wonderful expression of joy and colour. Felt inspired to create this new design which I have called Flower Power…but it really should be called Plant Power! Just sent the design to print, so should be ready in a week or two. Thinking this design would also work well on textiles, can imagine it as a duvet cover print…maybe even on clothing too…what do you think? Happy Springtime all! 🌻
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? What is it that makes a place a home? I’ve had this design idea in my head for years and have finally got it down on paper. Think it would make a nice editorial illustration so do get in touch if you hear of any opportunities, would love that. The weathers due to get warmer tomorrow so happy dreaming of summer travel adventures…
I have relocated and this is my new home in Bristol, isn’t it cute! Was a bit of a transition moving from having just the one room in a flat share to a whole house, whaa! Lots of work to do and havn’t totally got it how I want yet (will take time) but have a functioning desk where I can draw and lots of space to pack cards, so that’s pretty amazing!

My new cards have just arrived from the printers! They are now up on the online order form on the www.justlikesophie.uk website and can be bought from the online card shop Thortful. Happy Sunday all!
Last Sunday I took my Berlin range of postcards to Mauer Park and sold them out of a vintage suitcase. It was lots of fun and I met some friendly people from all over the world. Sometimes I find as an illustrator I can get a bit isolated and it’s so good to get out there and engage with people in whatever way. The bear design is new so will be getting that printed into postcards soon.
Here are some drawings from my recent travels. I’ve always been shy about drawing people so wanted to practice. I found a wonderful stationary shop in Thailand and topped up on pens. Do find it interesting how much my style changes depending on which thickness and type of pen I use. In fact it changes drastically depending on the medium, so you almost can’t tell it’s the same person behind the creations!
